History of Petit Pâté

Petits Pâtés de PézenasIn the 18th century, Lord Robert Clive, vice king of India, arrived in Pézenas (small town in the south of France) to take some rest and recupriate ; along with his court.

During his receptions, the Petits Pâtés were frequently served to his guests much to their delight.

And thus, the unique combination of sweet and savery was quickly taken to the hearts of the local people.

Because of the warm hospitality of the people of Pézenas towards his lordship during his visits (which he mentioned in documents found in Market Drayton), he did not hesitate in supplying them with the original recipe.

Ever since, the petit pâté is regarded as a speciality of our region.
